Can a woman ever feel really happy after bearing a child out of wedlock?

At a recent wedding, the bride's children were the bridesmaid and page boy. I said to my mother "Mother, here is the perfect example of putting the cart before the horse". She smiled and said she didn't know what the world was coming to. The bride did seem very relieved to have finally corrected her mistake but I wonder if there is always that lurking anxiety that she got it all backwards and the wedding would have been so much more meaningful. You know 'Marriage is for the procreation of children etc'. The poor vicar had to cut those lines completely.I'm sure he felt like he was treading on eggshells.
