Where do you draw the line on what comes off as offensive to people?

I mean when I ask questions on Yahoo Answers. People report my questions I assume because they were offended by it. It's like walking on eggshells depending on the categories you ask in. Yahoo has ignored my appeals like long ago. The don't even respond anymore. Any suggestions on what I should do about this?
